What's Your Voting Plan?

We’re just days away from November 3rd and if you haven’t made a voting plan already, let’s make one! - Assemblywoman Nily Rozic represents New York’s 25th District, which spans the Eastern portion of Queens, including the communities of Flushing, Queensboro Hill, Hillcrest, Fresh Meadows, Oakland Gardens, Bayside, and Douglaston. Upon her election in 2012, Assemblywoman Rozic became the youngest woman in the state legislature and the first woman ever to represent the 25th District.

Dear Neighbor:

Here’s what you should know:

This year you can vote by absentee ballot or in-person, either during Early Voting or on Election Day. Early Voting starts this weekend on Saturday, October 24th and ends on Sunday, November 1st. Your Early Voting and Election Day poll sites will be two different locations. You can verify where to vote at https://findmypollsite.vote.nyc/

If you’d like more information on each of the candidates on your ballot, that’s availablehere

1. How do I apply for an absentee ballot?

You can apply online, via email, or mail your already printed application to the Queens Board of Election Borough Office located at 118-35 Queens Blvd., Forest Hills, NY 11375. If you prefer to email your application, send a PDF of the completed form toapply4absentee@boe.nyc. The final day to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, October 27th.

2. I already applied for an absentee ballot. When am I going to get it?

The BOE began sending absentee ballots out in mid-September. You can track the status of your application and whether your ballot has been mailed atnycabsentee.com/tracking. You can also use this tool to keep tabs on the processing of your ballot once you return it.

3. My absentee ballots says “Absentee Military” on it but I’m not in the military. Can I still fill it out?

Yes, all of the absentee ballots this year are labeled as “Absentee Military” due to a printing error. However, the BOE has confirmed this is your official ballot to complete and return.

4. How do I complete my absentee ballot?

Once you receive your ballot, use blue or black ink to mark the ballot according to your choices for each office following the instructions on the ballot. Once you have completed marking your ballot fold it up and place it in the Security Envelope. This envelope will have a place for your signature that you must sign and date. Seal the Security Envelope and place it in the Return Envelope. (This envelope should have a logo that reads “Official Election Mail”). Seal the Return Envelope.

5. How do I return my absentee ballot?

You can mail your absentee ballot to the Queens BOE office (118-35 Queens Blvd, Forest Hills, NY 11375) or drop it off at an early voting site--during early voting--or at any regular polling site on Election Day. If mailing your absentee ballot, affix postage (2 Forever Stamps) and ensure it is postmarked no later than November 3rd. (The post office will deliver ballots regardless of postage & your ballot counts even if it arrives a day or two after November 3rd.) You can also drop it off at the Queens BOE as early as today.

6. If I applied for an absentee ballot but decided to vote in-person, is that okay?

Yes. If you decide not to send in your absentee ballot, you can vote in-person. Absentee ballots are counted after the election, so the vote will not register until November 3rd.

If you have any other questions about voting in this year’s general election, please do not hesitate to contact my office. You can call us at 718-820-0241 or emailRozicN@nyassembly.gov

Wishing you and yours all the best,
