Kościuszko Gala Concert at Carnegie Hall

PSC - 45th Anniversary
Sunday November 19th 2017 in Carnegie Hall. Musical Tribute to the Hero of Two Nations. The Ars Activa Foundation and Finitor Foundation cordially invite you on Sunday November 19th to the Gala Concert commemorating the 200th anniversary of the hero of two nations, Tadeusz Kościuszko – one of the anniversaries celebrated by UNESCO this year.

This concert is taking place under the honorary patronage of the Vice Prime Minister and Minister for Culture and National Heritage, prof. dr. hab. Piotr Giliński, and thanks to the financial support, amongst others, of the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in New York, The Kościuszko Foundation and the Polish Slavic Center. The performers of this evening will be the Kościuszko Festival Orchestra conducted by maestros Bartosz Żurakowski and Francesco Bottigliero, with soloists Edyta Kulczak (mezzo-sopran), who sings courtesy of the Metropolitan Opera, Marian Sobula (piano) i Mariusz Monczak (violin). There will also be recitations by Mr Olek Krupa and the concert will be led by Mrs Liliana Komorowska.

In the program, the public will have the occasion to hear compositions by Tadeusz Kościuszko himself, two Polonaises and a Waltz, as well as three new pieces created for the Kościuszko Year:

  • Polonaise dedicated to Kościuszko by Polish composer Romuald Twardowski
  • Polonaise – Metamorphoses by American composer John Sarkissian
  • Song of General by Italian composer Francesco Bottigliero

Furthermore, the program will be completed by such masterworks of Polish and American music as Andante Spianato i Wielki Polonez Es dur Fryderyka Chopina, Variations on Original Theme by Henryk Wieniawski, Orawa by Wojciech Kilar or the famous Adagio for strings by Samuel Barbera.

The concert in Carnegie Hall is a culmination of celebrations for Tadeusz Kościuszko organized by the Foundations Ars Activa and Finitor – the goal of which was to bring to light and remember this outstanding figure who represented so much for both Polish and American culture and history. The preceding concerts took place in 2017 on the Kopiec Kościuszki in Cracow during the Independence Day of the United States celebrations, in the Collegium Maius of the Jagiellon University, in the Cracow Skukinnice, at the Royal Palace in Warsaw, or last autumn – the last New York Carnegie Hall concert.

KOŚCIUSZKO GALA CONCERT will take place on Sunday November 19th 2017 r. at 7:30 PM at the Weill Recital Hall in Carnegie Hall. Tickets at 39$ i 49$ can be bought over the phone at CarnegieCharge 212-247-7800, online or at the Carnegie Hall Box Office, on the corner of 57th and Seventh.
